Russia, which occupied Ukraine last week, was under intense pressure from both countries and companies. New embargoes are being added to the embargoes that have increased in recent days. Apple announced yesterday the sanctions against Russia and said that it will continue. Electronic Arts, one of the giants of the game world, announced in a statement today that it removed the Russian National Team and other Russian teams from FIFA and other sports games.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Federov, with a post he made on his Twitter account, tagged Xbox and PlayStation, the two biggest names in the gaming world, and invited gaming and e-sports companies to ‘withdraw from Russia’.

‘Withdraw from Russia and Belarus’

Federov, in his post, tagged Xbox and PlayStation and said;

“To all game developers and e-sports platforms,

Russian Federation has made a deceptive and ugly military attack on my country! Imagine that in 2022, neighborhoods, kindergartens and hospitals are bombed in the heart of Europe.

Armed forces and citizens defend Ukraine to the end! The whole world is showing its anger by imposing sanctions. The enemy must suffer serious losses. But we need your help. In 2022, modern technology is perhaps the best answer to tanks, multiple rocket launchers and missiles.

I am sure that you will not only hear our voices but do everything in your power to protect Ukraine, Europe and the entire democratic world from this authoritarian aggression. I request that you block all Russian and Belarusian accounts, temporarily prevent Russian and Belarusian teams from participating in games and national esports tournaments, and cancel all international events that will be held in Russia-Belarus.

We are confident that these sanctions will motivate the Russian people to stop this shameful military violence.”

Mykhailo Federov, with this article he shared, called out to all e-sports and game companies in the world and invited them to participate in the sanctions against Russia. Xbox, PlayStation and other companies have not yet made a statement on this issue.
