Offering high-performance devices to gamers, designers and office workers, Lenovo is one of the few brands that has managed to achieve the price/performance balance. However, problems such as heating caused by the portability of laptops also affect this company. This can cause headaches for users.

In this case, as if sending the computer for service is not enough, it may also be necessary to wait for weeks. Luca Rossi, one of Lenovo executives, announced a development that will please users in this respect at Canalys EMEA Forum 2023. According to Rossi, steps are being taken to reduce both ease of repair and the amount of waste.

“By 2025, 80 percent of our devices will be repairable by the consumer.”

According to Rossi, 80 percent of the parts that need to be replaced will be repairable by 2025. In this way, the impact on the environment will be reduced. In other words, parts such as SSD and battery will not come sealed in the case. Instead, they will reside on the computer in a modifiable and repairable state.

Of course, it would not be right to say that this is a favor from the heart of the company. Even though Apple presented the switch to Type-C under the name of “up-to-dateness”, it did so under pressure from the EU. Lenovo seems to have taken this step because a law requiring it to inform consumers about the repairability of devices is on the agenda.

However, the company’s computers are currently repaired quite easily. At least we can say this compared to competitors such as Apple.
