Bruce Willis’ daughter, Rumer Willis, announced on his social media account that his father quit acting due to health problems. Rumer Willis said that his father was diagnosed with aphasia, which affected his cognitive abilities.
Bruce Willis’ daughter said in a statement, “We wanted to share with Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, that our beloved Bruce is suffering from some health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia affecting his cognitive abilities.”
According to the medical world, aphasia is defined as “an injury resulting from damage to the part of the brain responsible for language.” The disorder can affect understanding, reading and writing. It can also limit a person’s ability to communicate and speak to others.
The 67-year-old famous actor made his debut in the TV series Moonlighting, which started in 1985, and won an Emmy in 1987. However, Willis is best known for playing John McClane in the Die Hard series.
Willis has also appeared in blockbusters such as The Fifth Element (1997), Armageddon (1998) and The Sixth Sense (1999). It should be noted that Willis’ other classics include The Last Quest (1991), Death Befits a Woman (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994) and 12 Monkeys (1995).
