In recent months, Hyundai has acquired Boston Dynamics, known for its dog-shaped robots. Hyundai, which has become the third company that has a stake in the company, has also announced that it aims to establish a supply chain in which it will produce and assemble robotic parts, and we told you about it.
After Hyundai’s acquisition, the popular autonomous robot Spot; He started out as a security supervisor at automobile manufacturing plants. It was stated that Spot would ensure the safety of the workers and the property of the factory by detecting the setbacks in the work areas. Now, this famous autonomous robot has started work in Tüpraş.
Spot started field trials at Tüpraş
Tüpraş aims to support a safe and secure work environment with the use of robots in its production areas. By facilitating repetitive work in risky processes, it allows technical teams to use their competencies in different areas.
The trial work of the robot, equipped with refinery-specific sensors by the Norwegian unicorn startup Cognite, was completed first at the Izmit Refinery, and then at the Kırıkkale Refinery, in order to perform regular control operations.
Following the detailed technical evaluation in the light of the data and information obtained from the field trial studies; Feasibility studies will be carried out taking into account the usage needs in various fields. Tüpraş aims to be the first in its field with its artificial intelligence and robotic technologies roadmap.
If we talk about what the autonomous robot will do in its new job; Thanks to Spot’s advanced management platform supported by three-dimensional models, expected actions can be easily defined. Different types of analog meters, level indicators, valve opening indicators and various safety controls in the fields can be made autonomously by the robot. Thanks to the cameras supported by artificial intelligence, any liquid that may occur on the ground can be easily detected, and the gases in the environment can be detected with the sensors on it.
Spot also reports the temperature values of the displayed places thanks to the thermal camera on it. By processing the received temperature data, smarter warnings can be obtained with backward comparisons thanks to the integrated data management system. Spot can also create three-dimensional models of its environment with its environmental scanning cameras. Objects can be identified with image processing methods, and by comparing them with previously obtained data, it can create a warning for foreign substances that should not be present in the environment.
