Jack Mallers, CEO of Bitcoin (BTC) payments company Strike, created a stir by announcing that his company is partnering with Shopify, NCR, and Blackhawk. In the final speech of his first day, Jack Mallers made some big announcements at Bitcoin 2022 in Miami.

Bitcoin company announces partnerships

Bitcoin and Lightning Network advocate, Strike CEO, in his speech, announced partnerships with NCR and Blackhawk, as well as Strike’s integration with Shopify. Mallers began his speech with a brief history of credit cards, starting with the Diner’s Club Card in 1949. He mentioned that these companies, including Visa, Mastercard, and Discover, have had a number of tools to close the funds, essentially the same since then. In addition, Mallers emphasized that traders do not receive full payment from their customers, but instead must sacrifice their earnings for transaction fees, and used the following statements:

In reality, payment networks have not been innovating for over 50 years. This is madness! Since 1949, there has not been a superior payment network that has allowed us to innovate, build on financial inclusion, deliver cheaper services, and move the world forward.

What do partnerships mean?

Strike is one of the leading Bitcoin payment companies. It focuses on facilitating fast, low-cost Bitcoin payments by leveraging the Lightning Network, a protocol that supports high-speed transactions by running payment channels on top of the Bitcoin protocol. Lightning Network is often touted as the best solution that can unlock Bitcoin scalability and help BTC mass adoption.

Shopify is a leading e-commerce platform that helps businesses manage their online storefronts. In 2021, Shopify reported that over 1.7 billion businesses were using its platform. NCR Corporation, formerly the National Cash Register, is a software company that provides services for point-of-sale systems, ATMs, and check processing systems. Blackhawk Networks Holdings primarily deals in gift cards and prepaid debit cards. Therefore, these partnerships will enable many companies such as McDonald’s and Walmart to accept BTC as a payment method, as seen in many tweets below.
