BOE showed at Display Week 2023 the world’s first LCD-based display with a 110-inch screen and a resolution of 16K (15,360 × 8640 pixels). Even the most advanced graphics cards are unlikely to be able to play games at this resolution. In other words, the image consists of 132 million pixels.
For comparison, 4K monitors, which are considered quite modern, have 16 times fewer pixels, and 1080p monitors have 64 times fewer pixels. In parallel, modern graphics cards like the latest mass-produced GeForce RTX 4060 Ti or Radeon RX 7600 are designed for these resolutions, which now seem small.
Pixels are not visible even at close range
BOE’s LCD-based display technology provides a 1200:1 contrast ratio and can display 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Its brightness is 400 nits. BOE has not yet announced when the new displays will hit the market, but those who had the chance to see them at the fair claim that individual pixels are not visible even at close range.
