BMW is among the world’s largest automobile manufacturers. The company has many models and thanks to the features it offers, it reaches good sales figures both in our country and in the world.
Many automobile manufacturers had to pause production in their factories, especially due to the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Now a new statement has come from the German manufacturer BMW. According to the statement, BMW will pause production of the Z4 and 5 Series for a short time.
BMW will suspend production of the Z4 and 5 Series!
According to the report published by Österreichischer Rundfunk, BMW will suspend production of the Z4 and 5 Series at its factory in Austria as of Monday, March 14. The reason for the interruption of production is the war between Russia and Ukraine. Problems in the supply of cables produced in Ukraine and the cessation of production in Ukraine pushed the company to such a move.
According to the statement, production will be suspended for two weeks for now. However, this period may take longer due to the prolongation of the war or the problems to be experienced in supply. According to a statement made by an official working at the company’s factory in Austria, employees will be forced to take leave during this time or work at home with short working days.
BMW Z4 comes before us as a model produced jointly by the company with Toyota Supra. This made some Toyota lovers worried about the Supra. However, Toyota has not yet made a statement about whether Supra production will be stopped. According to some experts, this may also affect the production of the Supra.
Although the production of the BMW Z4 is suspended for now, some reports do not indicate positive things about the future of the vehicle. According to the information revealed, BMW will end the production of the Z4 by 2025. The reason for this is that Z4 sales are low compared to other models of the brand. According to the most recently published data, the company sold only 2,400 Z4s in 2021.
So, what are your thoughts? Do you think we will hear such news from other automakers if the war between Russia and Ukraine continues? You can share your views with us in the comments section or on the SDN Forum.
