The chip crisis continues to hit the automotive industry. Due to the supply problems experienced, the production of the brands has also been disrupted. Some brands give up some features in their vehicles and continue production. BMW is one of these brands. The Bavarian manufacturer, which previously removed the touch screen in some of its models due to the chip crisis, has now started to unload its vehicles from the production line without Google signed Anroid Auto and Apple CarPlay.

BMW will not offer Google and Apple support on some of its vehicles!

BMW announced this to its customers via e-mail. In an email to customers, the German auto company stated that some vehicles manufactured between January and April of this year needed an update to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Indicating that the necessary update will be made by June at the latest, the company believes that it will overcome the chip crisis with the least injury in this way. Although BMW has included infotainment systems that do not support Anroid Auto and Apple CarPlay in its vehicles, it has not disrupted its shipments. If the German manufacturer offers the necessary update to its vehicles in a short time, as promised, there will be no big problems.

It is not yet clear how many customers and vehicle models are affected by BMW’s decision. However, according to the information received, vehicles with the production code “6P1” will come without Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In addition, it was claimed that the USA, England, France, Italy and Spain markets would be affected by this situation.

Of course, BMW is not the only brand affected by the chip crisis. Many manufacturers cannot offer the desired features in some of their vehicles due to the chip crisis. The supply problems that started with the pandemic are not expected to end anytime soon. Companies are marking the end of 2024 for the end of this crisis.
