Known as the car that saved BMW from bankruptcy and with an iconic design, Isetta is back on the road with its renewed design and electric version Microlino. Microlino, which was produced under the umbrella of the Swiss-based Micro brand, could not be produced due to the delays in 2018 and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic. Allegedly, this tiny vehicle is expected to be on the road by the end of the year.

Inspired by the 1956 model BMW Isetta, Microlino is preparing to enter the ever-increasing world of electric vehicles. Citroen’s tiny giant Ami, after Renault’s Zoe, seems to be among the cars that have compact dimensions in Microlino but give an unexpected performance from an electric car of this size.

It is claimed that the vehicle can be driven for a week without recharging

Microlino, which has a different design than when it first launched, to address quality, safety and usability concerns. Micro company stated that it received great support from its customers. Developed for use in the city, the environmentally friendly Microlino seems to be a new alternative for a cheap transportation for users.

With a front door opening style similar to BMW’s Isetta, the Microlino is classified between automobile and motorcycle. The car, which takes up less space than normal cars, has seating for two and a trunk of 230 liters. Powered by electricity, the car has four wheels just like a normal car.

With a weight of approximately 535 kg, Microlino promises a driving range of approximately 230 km. The car, which can reach a top speed of 90 km/h, offers a range of approximately 115 km for daily urban use. In addition, according to the company’s claim, a driver who drives the car without getting tired can use the electric car for a week without charging.

The car that enters L7e class vehicles in Europe appears as a four-wheeled motorcycle. But its design is more like a car. About 90% of the parts of the small-sized battery and environmentally friendly car are produced in Europe. The car, which has a 15kW battery, can be fully charged in about four hours from a normal household outlet.

It has been announced that Microlino has already received more than 30,000 orders. The car was offered for sale in Europe for $ 13,400, but it is estimated that the price of the vehicle, which is expected to be on the roads in Switzerland first, may rise to around $ 15,340. For Swiss customers, deliveries are expected to begin in the next few months, followed by rollout to the European market.

Microlino is produced at the company’s Turin plant in Italy. It is aimed to increase the capacity of the facility, which is currently capable of producing 1,500 vehicles per year, to approximately 10,000 vehicles.
