Graphics cards, which are one of the most important pieces of hardware for a smooth gaming experience, are offered to players at different prices according to their level. In the latest statement from NVIDIA, it was stated that the production of two affordable models was stopped.

NVIDIA bids farewell to RTX 2060 and GTX 1660

In the past weeks, there have been rumors that the production of GTX 1660 and RTX 2060, one of NVIDIA’s most popular graphics cards, has stopped. As a result of the research on these claims, it was announced that the rumors were true.

There is no explanation yet about the reason why NVIDIA has stopped the production of these popular graphics cards. According to IT Home’s claim, the reason for this is to ensure that the company’s graphics card users turn to new models and to make room for new series in stocks.

However, the cessation of production of the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 does not mean that the updates will end. Driver updates are expected to continue for a few more years. Because Steam’s October 2022 hardware data also supports this. If we look at the report, we see that the RTX 2060 is the second most used graphics card, while the GTX 1660 is in the 8th place.

RTX 2060 features

When we look at the technical specifications of the RTX 2060 12 GB model, we see that it is based on the Turing TU106 GPU. In addition, it offers a base clock of 1470 MHz and a boost clock of 1650 MHz. It also includes 2176 shader cores. Still, as is often the case with NVIDIA cards, the card must support higher clock speeds as long as power and thermal conditions allow.

The RTX 2060, 12GB of GDDR6 memory, runs at 14Gbps over the 192-bit bus, providing a total bandwidth of 336GB/s. We can compare this with the 8 GB RTX 2060 Super 448 Gb/s over the 256-bit bus.

GTX 1660 specifications

With the Turing GPU architecture, the GTX 1660 draws attention with its successful performance even in games with complex shaders with the effect of its new design. GeForce GTX 1660 at 1080p resolution has 1408 CUDA cores. The graphics card in question also draws attention with its 6 GB GDDR5 memory running at 192 Gbps and 1.8 GHz core speed that can be overclocked.

A significant number of current gamers support GTX 960 and lower-performing GPUs that went on sale in 2014. The GTX 1660 model, on the other hand, has a performance that is 110 percent higher than the level of the GTX 960.
