Half-Life 2, whose name is engraved with golden letters in the game world, came to the fore with a striking claim. According to a post by a user on Reddit, the texture used in a corpse model in Half-Life 2 and Garry’s Mod was actually taken from a real corpse.
Allegedly, the face of the corpse was taken from the corpse of a person who was burned to death in a medical book. Moreover, this model was a model in a file called ‘corpse01.mdl’, which is also used extensively by mod developers.
The allegations have yet to be confirmed:
The ‘discovery’ that the face in the game is actually a real face happened by chance. The photo of the real person was shared on a Reddit community of extremely disturbing images. Another Reddit user who saw this photo claimed that the face was also used in the model in Half-Life 2.
So could the claims be true?
Previously revealed details about Half-Life 2 revealed that real corpse photos were used during the development of the game. Moreover, these images were included in the beta version before the game was released. But in the final version, the images were replaced by different and less disturbing ones designed by the developers.
According to some estimates, this model may be one of the models that was mistakenly skipped to fix in the beta version. However, it is also stated that the images in question are only similar to each other.
