Blizzard, the company behind games like World of Warcraft and Diablo, conducted a survey to measure players’ views on emerging trends. The fact that cryptocurrencies and NFTs were also included in the survey led to rumors that the company had an NFT plan.
However, the head of Blizzard, Mike Ybarra, said in a statement on Twitter that they have no such plans.
As NFTs gain immense popularity in 2022, the gaming industry has also started to show great interest in NFTs.
The Ukrainian game company behind the STALKER game, GSC Game World, announced that it shelved the NFT project due to the reactions from the game community.
In the chat program Discord, which is used extensively by the players, it was announced that it gave up the Ethereum and NFT plan due to the intense criticism.
Ubisoft, the producer company of games such as Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, is among the companies that show great interest in NFT. A Ubisoft executive complained that players were reluctant to NFT, saying that people did not fully understand this industry.
