Blizzard is pulling the plug on the free-to-play moba game Heroes of the Storm. The studio has announced that it has stopped developing new content for the beloved production.

Blizzard’s popular moba game, Heroes of the Storm, may be removed from the dusty shelves of history. In a short blog post shared on Friday, the studio announced that the production will now be supported similarly to Starcraft 2.

Content support is ending

According to the shared statements, Blizzard will stop developing new content for Heroes of the storm. However, bug and balancing patches will continue to be released going forward. Stating that with the next patch of the game, a free in-game mount will be given to the players, the company said, “We would like to express our thanks to our supporting players consisting of heroes. You continue to be one of our most passionate communities.”

It was revealed that many of the staff working on Heroes of the Storm were moved to other projects in 2018. While the number of new content added to the game decreased with the change made, the last new hero of the game was released in December 2022, and the last balance patch was released in March 2022.
