As the K-pop genre continues to dominate the world of music, this scene can also be seen on YouTube. While the most watched channels on YouTube in the music industry belong to K-pop groups and personalities, a new record was broken today.
As of April 12, 2023, BLACKPINK, one of the most popular K-pop groups, held the record for the most watched music channel on YouTube and entered the Guinness Book of Records. BLACKPINK, which broke the record with 30 billion 151 million views, took the Guinness Book of Records from Maroon 5, which has held the record so far.
It also recently achieved the title of the most streamed music group on Spotify:
Founded in 2016 by Rosé, Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo, BLACKPINK continues to hold the record for the most subscribed music group today. The group continues this success on music platforms as well. Last month, it also became the most streamed female music group on Spotify with 8.8 billion streams last month.
BLACKPINK’s record for the most watched music video in 24 hours and the most watched video in 24 hours on YouTube has not been reached yet. These records continue to stand in the hands of the most popular K-pop group BTS.
