Blackmagic, a company that produces professional cameras, has released a free camera application for iPhones. Blackmagic Camera allows users to shoot professional-level video with their phones. We should also point out that it can work integrated with the company’s video editing software called DaVinci Resolve.The interface of the application is similar to the interface of Blackmagic’s own cameras. Thus, it gives users the feeling of working with professional equipment. You can easily adjust settings such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance and ISO level. It also offers the opportunity to switch between lenses.
Codec options
In the app, the resolution and even the codec can be customized, up to Apple ProRes 4444. There are also standard H.264 or HEVC (H.265) options. On the main screen, in addition to the viewfinder and basic settings, you can see the volume indicator by channel, remaining recording time, available storage space and battery charge amount. A histogram is also available.
Sound recording is done by the iPhone’s own microphone, but you can also specify another sound source if you wish. Audio codecs include various options such as AAC, PCM and IEEE Float.
