Bitcoin Near Zero Carbon With Renewable Energy

Bitcoin mining has been the focus of criticism for a long time due to its energy consumption. Thereupon, big mining companies took some initiatives on this issue and started to increase the use of renewable energy sources. It has been shared by BatCoinz if Bitcoin can reach its zero emissions target by December 2024 and it will be the first currency to achieve it. This data shared by BatCoinz shows that Bitcoin may be the first to achieve this goal.

According to the research conducted by BatCoinz, while the carbon emission of Bitcoin is currently 62.4 percent, this rate is expected to reach 72.7 percent by March 2023 with the announced zero carbon projects.

The report says on the subject:

“We estimate that Bitcoin mining, which uses aerated methane as its energy, will grow at only 83 percent of the growth rate of gas-sourced mining (6.9 MW/month). Based on this more modest growth rate, our prediction is that the Bitcoin network will become completely carbon neutral in Q4 2024.
