Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has hired former Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Corporate Vice President Rohit Wad as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer.
In a blog post, Binance announced that Wad has been CTO for one month and will be tasked with engineering scalable, compatible and fast Web3 services and solutions. In addition, Wad will be responsible for monitoring the ongoing security, stability and liquidity of the exchange. As part of his new role, the former Microsoft executive will help Binance comply with regulatory requirements in the crypto space.
During Wad’s early days on the stock market, Binance noted that the CTO was working in the background and making observations about his new role. In a separate post, Wad said that the potential offered by Web3 is huge, so he made the decision to join Binance.
Wad previously served as Director of Engineering at Facebook and Google. While at Microsoft, he was instrumental in establishing and developing Microsoft Teams and Skype.
In recent months, Binance has strengthened the Web3 team through strategic recruitments. Alongside Wad, the exchange announced the hiring of former Agoda Product Vice President Mayur Kamat as Head of Product.
