Leading crypto-asset trading platform Binance has blocked several Russian accounts linked to the Kremlin. The move comes after Binance imposed a 10,000 euro limit on Russian citizens. The blocked accounts were Polina Kovaleva, stepdaughter of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Elizaveta Peskova, daughter of President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, and Kirill, son of Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev.
The development follows discussions that crypto assets can be used to circumvent sanctions against Russia. As we have mentioned before, many regulatory bodies have expressed their concerns in this regard; Many prominent names in the crypto world made statements that the concerns were unfounded.
