Bill Gates, who has been on the agenda with his statements about the virus and vaccine since the COVID-19 pandemic began to appear, shared his final thoughts on his blog, GatesNotes.
Stating that we have reached the 18th month in the pandemic, the famous businessman emphasized that he wanted to express his own thoughts before the United Nations General Assembly, where issues that will concern millions of people, such as ending the crisis caused by the pandemic, told 3 things to be done to control the virus.
The world must have a global response to such viruses
Stating that there is a new variant danger around every corner, Gates said that it is getting harder and harder to predict what will happen next. In the blog post shared by the businessman, “The virus will continue to mutate as long as it is transmitted uncontrollably. However, the virus may change, and the world’s reaction to it may also change.”
According to Gates’ thoughts, there are 3 things we need to follow to control the virus that causes the pandemic. The first of these, as you can imagine, is getting vaccinated. Stating that 41 million doses of vaccine were distributed worldwide after the vaccine crisis ended, Gates emphasized that governments and the private sector should work together to create a more transparent system to accelerate the supply of vaccines.
According to Gates, the second thing to do to control the virus is to prevent its spread. Stating that countries, schools and private businesses can get rid of the quarantine cycle as long as the epidemic is kept under control, Gates stated that the world needs tests, protective equipment and medical devices that give faster results.
Stating that the third thing that needs to be done to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic is that the world should give a global response to such viruses, Gates emphasized that the fates of middle and low-income countries should not depend on donations. While Gates stated that they can meet the needs of everyone in the world with planning, investment, cooperation and lessons learned, he emphasized that the same ways should be followed in order to reduce poverty, eliminate gender inequality and eradicate polio.
