More actively used iPhones in the US than all Android phones
According to the new report of the independent research firm Counterpoint, the number of iPhones actively used in the USA exceeded the number of Android phones for the first time. As a result of the competition that has been going on since 2007, Apple surpassed the entire Android ecosystem in June of this year. Because the research specifies actively used devices (active installed base) rather than sales numbers, it better measures the strength of ecosystems. The active installed base also includes devices that were purchased years ago and are still in use, apart from new phone sales. Ben Wood of CCS described the iPhone’s installed base as the “engine” of his company and stated that Apple has always taken it seriously. By increasing the lifespan of iPhone devices, Apple allows iOS users to benefit from Apple services for a long time, and the company earns incredible revenues in this way.
Apple is also the leader in new phone sales
Although Apple has achieved significant success with its installed base of iPhone devices, the company continues to maintain its leadership in high-end phone sales. According to a different study by Counterpoint, while Apple has a 57% market share in phone sales over $400 worldwide, it has outstripped its competitors with a 78% market share in phone sales over $1000. Varun Mishra of Counterpoint also stated that the ultra high-end phone market has not been affected by the global financial crisis. Let’s see how the leaders of the Android side will fight this success of Apple.
