Another extremely creative method in which artificial intelligence is used in fraudulent transactions has emerged. A person who called a UAE bank claiming to be a financial representative of a company, was able to transfer money by phone, providing all the necessary information and also bypassing voice recognition.
Criminals used “deep sound technology to mimic the director’s voice,” Forbes reported. Officials from the UAE have asked the US Department of Justice to provide details of two individuals who hold US bank accounts in which more than $400,000 of the stolen money was deposited. Investigators believe there were at least 17 people involved in the robbery.
