Pixalate has published a report regarding mobile apps being removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The data presented by the company, which works on fraud and digital abuse, reveals that a major cleaning has been carried out in the application stores.
Apple delays iPadOS 16 release to October
According to the statistics in the report, in the second quarter of 2022, more than 592 thousand applications were removed from the App Store and Play Store. In the first quarter, this figure was at the level of 220,000. In other words, there is an increase of almost 3 times. It is noteworthy that Apple removes many more applications than Google.
Doomed apps have been delisted
Apple removed 439,000 apps from the store in the second quarter of 2022, an increase of 8.652% compared to the first quarter. 64% of apps delisted by the Cupertino company had not received an update for two years or more. In addition, the company has removed many applications in the Health and Fitness category from the store.
According to Pixalate, more than 49,000 apps that were removed from the list in the second quarter of 2022 were aimed at children. Thousands of fraudulent apps have also been cleared from stores. In addition, Google and Apple have also delisted 35 apps linked to Russian state bank Sberbank, which has been sanctioned by the Ukraine war.
