Samsung’s head of Mobile Experience (MX), TM Roh, recently introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 at a press conference in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
Roh also announced impressive numbers for Samsung’s foldable smartphones, predicting that one in three high-end Galaxy smartphones sold in Korea this year will be foldable, accounting for more than 20% of all Galaxy flagship sales.
Roh claims Samsung will surpass Apple’s iPhone shipments in five years
There are two main problems preventing Samsung from catching up with Apple in the high-end smartphone market. First, Samsung doesn’t have a dedicated ecosystem like iOS, but it can still develop custom apps for its devices. The second is that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is an expensive device.
It is estimated that Apple plans to produce 84-89 million devices in the iPhone 15 series, which will far exceed the sales of the Galaxy S23. Despite selling more smartphones than Apple, with a variety of products overall, including entry-level, mid-range, and foldable devices, Samsung’s high-end Galaxy models do not match the sales number of iPhones.
Let’s see if TM Roh’s 5-year claim will come true. Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
