It opens automatically after updating to iOS 17
Some users reported that the Points of Interest and iPhone Analysis option, which they had turned off in their privacy settings, were turned on automatically after updating to iOS 17. iOS 17 makes this change without the user’s permission and without any warning. Apple says that these settings should not change after updating to iOS 17 and that they are investigating this situation that affects some iPhones.
Key Locations and iPhone Analysis
Apple says that Important Locations are end-to-end encrypted and cannot be read even by Apple. This feature is primarily used to keep track of the places you’ve been to recently. This location data is also used for predictive traffic routing, app recommendations, and Memories in the Photos app. According to security researchers, although important locations are stored within the device, they can be misused because it records detailed information about frequently visited locations.
As for the iPhone Analytics option, although the reports do not identify the user, it may have privacy implications because location information is included in the analytics reports. It is recommended to turn off both options under Settings – Privacy and Security – Location Services – System Services.
