Biden administration’s idea to categorize AI content approved
The administration of US President Joe Biden has announced that leading AI companies have made voluntary commitments to the White House to implement measures such as adding watermarks to AI-generated content. It was stated that OpenAI, Google, Meta are among the companies that have committed to the White House.
With artificial intelligence becoming more common day by day, the US government began to take steps for regulation. In June, US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for “comprehensive legislation” to ensure progress and protection in artificial intelligence. Congress, on the other hand, is considering legislation to explain AI-generated content.
President Joe Biden, who has hosted the executives of seven leading companies at the White House, is working to develop an executive order and bipartisan legislation for artificial intelligence technology. Within this framework, companies have committed to “watermarking” all content, from users’ AI-generated text, images, audio and video. This watermark will help users to detect deep fake images or audio and will be aimed at preventing malicious content. However, it remains unclear how the watermark will become evident in information sharing.
In addition, companies have committed to make efforts to protect the privacy of users and ensure that technology is used without prejudice and discrimination, in line with the development of artificial intelligence. Other commitments include a promise to contribute to scientific problems such as medical research and climate change with AI solutions.
