Social media platforms, which have become an important part of our lives with smartphones, can contain some things to be careful about, although they are good places to spend time. The increasing number of fake accounts is one of them.

The information shared by a service called SociMonitor, which states that it conducts internet research, also reveals that this situation may have increased in our country. A flood shared by SociMonitor on Twitter shows that many fake accounts have been opened on behalf of celebrities.

Fake accounts opened on behalf of famous names reach thousands of followers

According to the post, many fake accounts are opened on Twitter on behalf of celebrities, and these accounts can reach tens of thousands of followers. Stating that it detected these, SociMonitor states that the accounts were opened by a group.

The first example given on the subject is an account opened on behalf of the famous artist Sezen Aksu. Accordingly, these accounts are enlarged by RTing by fake accounts that were opened before on Twitter. It is also stated that there are parody phrases on the profiles, and this is done in order not to violate the misleading and deceptive identities policy of the social media platform.

In addition, SociMonitor states that fake accounts imitate not only celebrities, but also people and accounts that are on the agenda in the country. Names such as Kadir Şeker are given as an example. It is seen in the post that an account that was stated to have been opened in the name of Şeker later turned into an account that was stated to belong to the famous actor Selçuk Method.

In addition, it is reported that such accounts have even been converted into news accounts. Accordingly, an account opened in the name of Beyazıt Öztürk was later changed into a news account. The post also reveals that this news account is supported by other fake accounts we mentioned earlier. This shows that fake accounts are growing by supporting each other like this.

You can see the fake accounts mentioned by accessing the entire flood here. It should not go without saying that it is necessary to be more careful about these accounts, which are very common especially on Twitter.
