With the development of the mobile industry, all private information has now started to be transferred to smart phones. For this reason, it is possible to describe these small smart boxes as a wallet that contains sensitive data and can cause both material and moral damages if it is in the hands of someone else. At this point, it is necessary to pay attention to malware that looks like a mobile application but secretly contains trojans. Finally, the Sharkbot trojan, which seized bank information in five applications on the Google Play Store, was detected.

Watch out for the Sharkbot trojan! Seizing bank and personal information

Last week, we shared the information that 16 malware has been detected in the Google Play Store, which has been downloaded more than 20 million times in total. New ones have been added today. It turned out that a trojan known as Sharkbot, which captures users’ bank information in seconds, was hidden in 5 applications and downloaded thousands of times.

Netherlands-based Threat Fabric warned users in a clear language about this very dangerous trojan horse in its latest report. Sharkbot’s method of capturing users’ bank information was also revealed. Accordingly, a mobile application in which the trojan is hidden is initially installed on the target phone by the user as if it were a normal software. Then, after a while, this application sends a fake update notification and redirects the user to a fake Google Play Store page.

The malware makes its target feel secure and prepares the environment for clicking the update button on the fake Google Play Store page. At this point, although the user thinks that he has updated the application, he actually installs the trojan on his device with his own hand.

Although Threat Fabric, as always, says it reports malware to Google without delay, the danger still remains for users who have already installed them on their devices. Therefore, we recommend that you immediately delete any of the following mobile applications installed on your device.
