Sunday research firm Canalys shared the latest figures of the global phone market for 2024. The report shows that the increase in smartphone sales has started again. While the shipments in this period reached 1.22 billion, this figure is 7 %more than the same period of the previous year. According to Canalys data, Apple and Samsung shared leadership in 2024 with 18 %market shares. Xiaomi ranks third with 14 %, while Chinese manufacturers generally achieved a strong growth. Xiaomi has shipped 168.6 million smartphones with a growth of 15 %annually, and transsion and Oppo rose to a similar rate.
Samsung has sold 222.9 million phones in 2024. This figure points to a decrease of 1 %compared to the previous year. Similarly, Apple declined by 1 %by performing 225.9 million iPhone shipments. In particular, the increase in competition in developing markets and the aggressive pricing strategies of local brands in China were effective in this decline.
Meanwhile, when the BBK roof is combined with Oppo, Vivo and Realme, it reaches a total market share of 20 %. Looking at the last quarter of the year, Apple has maintained its leader with 77.1 million shipments and a market share of 23 %. However, this figure means a decrease of 1 %compared to the same period of 2023.Samsung sent 51.9 million phones to 16 %market share and experienced a 3 %decrease annually. Finally, Xiaomi, 42.7 million phones in the last quarter of the year by selling 5 %growth on an annual basis.
