Beijing has revealed a new plan to develop metaverse and NFT technologies.
The city’s municipality detailed the “Beijing Urban Sub-Center Metaverse Innovation and Development Action Plan” in an August 23 release.
The Metaverse and NFT development plan is heavily based on the development of the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center and the implementation plan to build a global digital economy city in the center of Beijing city.
The city’s plans include a metaverse theme park and “smart hotels.”
No budget was included in the published plan. The city’s plan is to bring Beijing to the fore in the virtual world.
Beijing Keeps Interested in Blockchain
China’s strict stance on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies hasn’t stopped Beijing from keeping a close eye on blockchain technology. Beijing, one of the largest cities in the country, continues to operate actively in this field.
Similarly, China has taken very important steps towards the digital yuan. Although the digital yuan has been released, it is still in beta.
Along with China, the central banks of hundreds of countries continue to work to launch a CBDC.
