Just two months after its release, Battlefield 2042 seems to be losing popularity on Xbox. The game is no longer among the 50 most played Xbox games in the US, on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S.

The Xbox Series X – S version appears to be doing slightly better in the UK, though it still sits at the bottom of the top 50: number 44. . .

What is interesting is that For Honor and DayZ games are more popular than Battlefield 2042. Even Star Wars Battlefront 2, which Dice studio developed and stopped updating in April 2020, seems to be ahead of Battlefield 2042.

Things are definitely not going well for Battlefield 2042 on PC either. User reviews on the Steam page have made the game number 14 in the platform’s 100 worst games.

Following the player numbers, Steam Graphs shows that there has been a very serious decline since the game’s release in November. The game started its life with an average of 51,299 players and currently has only 9,727 players.

A small drop in player numbers may be considered normal, but Battlefield 2042’s condition has dropped drastically at an alarming rate. As for why this happens, common player complaints point to technical issues and lack of core features from previous games.

EA is undoubtedly more than eager to fix this. Some suspect that the game will adopt a free-to-play model to entice players.
