Volkswagen is among the world’s largest automobile manufacturers. The company hosts world-renowned automotive companies and manages to satisfy its users by launching cars that appeal to all segments.
Recently, the company announced that it would make large investments in electric cars. After the announcement, the company made partnerships with new companies on battery technologies. With a new statement made today, Volkswagen and Bosch announced that they will be able to establish a new company related to battery technologies in the future.
Volkswagen and Bosch may set up companies to manufacture batteries!
Volkswagen and Bosch announced a new partnership today. The companies announced that they will be able to establish a joint company for battery production in the coming days. It was explained that the main idea in this partnership idea is integrated battery production systems for battery cell and system manufacturers, as well as on-site acceleration and maintenance support.
Volkswagen has come a long way in battery production. The company recently announced that it will establish 6 battery production factories across Europe. In addition to these factories, with new partners, the company aims to easily meet the great demand that will arise in the future by establishing a better battery production infrastructure.
According to the researches, the battery demand in Europe will be around 700 GWh in 2030. In this direction, automobile companies are trying to prevent battery problems that may occur in the future by establishing factories. For this purpose, Volkswagen wants to further increase the number of battery factories by partnering with Bosch in the future. If the conditions are met, the new company can be established within this year.
After this statement, Volkswagen Group Components CEO Thomas Schmall made the following statements:
“Europe has a unique chance to become a global battery power plant in the coming years. There is strong and growing demand for all aspects of battery manufacturing, including the equipment of new giga factories. Volkswagen and Bosch will explore opportunities to develop and shape this new, multi-billion-euro sector in Europe. Our decision to actively engage in the vertical integration of the battery producing value chain will tap into significant new pools of profits. Setting out to build a fully localized European supply chain for e-mobility made in Europe certainly marks a rare opportunity in business history. ”
Rolf Najork, Member of the Robert Bosch Group Board and Chairman of the Board of Bosch Rexroth, said:
“Together with Volkswagen, we are looking for a way to industrialize the manufacturing processes of standard-fit battery cells. We have the best prerequisites for this: Bosch is not only the world’s largest automotive supplier, but also one of the leading suppliers of factory equipment. We understand how battery technology works and we know how to manufacture it. With over 135 years of automotive experience and proven industrialization expertise, we want to serve the growing demand for batteries. European industry has the potential to be a technology driver for the ecological transformation of the economy. ”
