The Barbie movie, which was released on July 21, was talked about a lot before and after the movie. The PR work of the movie was done so well that we saw dozens of products such as Barbie themed consoles, burgers with pink color. However, news from El Salvador revealed how extreme this madness can get.
A funeral home in the city of Ahuachapán, close to the border with Guatemala in El Salvador, produced and sold Barbie concept coffins. Yes, you heard right! Pink metal coffins with Barbie concept!
Barbie-themed coffins hit success
Funeral home owner Isaac Villegas said on Friday he’s offering customers the option of a Barbie-themed pink metal coffin ahead of the premiere of the Barbie movie in July. While the fabric linings of the coffins were decorated with pictures of Barbie, little white stars accompanied the pictures.
Villegas added that he had good success with Barbie-themed coffins. Villegas sold 10 of these coffins in his promotional campaign, and many were purchased for future burial rather than immediate use.
Villegas, who said that he previously sold brown, black, white and gray coffins, then switched to pink coffin sales. And it seems that he has no intention of giving up.
In Latin America before coffins; There were also pink tacos and pastries, commercial airplanes with the Barbie logo, political advertisements and even Barbie-themed protests.
In July, for example, anti-government demonstrators dressed two women in pink and placed them inside a giant Barbie box in the main square of Peru’s capital, Lima, to protest President Dina Boluarte, where police often clash with protesters.
