UK Accelerates CBDC Studies
The Bank of England is targeting a team of 30 to develop a digital currency (CBDC). According to the Sunday Times report, the bank aims to develop the digital pound of the Bank of England by forming this team. Currently, positions such as “Digital Pound Security Architect and Digital Pound Solution Architect” are open.
The British government announced in February that they would work on a digital version of the British Pound. He also included the people in his plans. However, the Bank of England has not decided whether a digital pound will use distributed ledger technology.
The bank’s career page listed Digital Pound Security Architect and Digital Pound Solution Architect positions. Both positions pay a salary of £80,000 (approximately $99,000). In January, the Treasury announced for the Head of the Central Bank Digital Currency.
This move of the Bank of England can be considered as a step towards the increasing importance and use of digital currencies. England’s initiative in this area may cause other countries to take similar steps.
