Baidu has sued Apple and app developers for fake Ernie chatbot apps in the App Store. The artificial intelligence-based chatbot, launched last month, was launched as China’s answer to the US-made ChatGPT.

Ernie is currently only available to a limited number of users. There are currently at least four fake Ernie apps on the App Store. On the other hand, Baidu underlines that the chatbot does not have an official application yet.

Don’t be fooled by those who sell access codes!

The Chinese tech giant warned users not to purchase access codes from third-party vendors to test the chatbot. Because test access can only be obtained from the company itself on request.

Apple has yet to comment on the situation. It is a matter of curiosity how such fake applications pass the App Store inspection. “Until our company’s official announcement, all Ernie apps you see in the App Store or other stores are fake,” Baidu’s statement said.
