The chip crisis, which emerged with the pandemic process, also negatively affected the companies that supply screens to smartphones. Allegedly, display manufacturer BOE is having trouble producing iPhone OLED panel.
The company, which came to the fore with quality problems, could not secure the LTPO screen orders used in the iPhone 13 series in 2021. According to the leaked information, OLED panel production for iPhones started as a result of the agreement between Apple and BOE.
BOE is on the agenda with its problem in OLED production for iPhone
Chinese display company BOE has been making efforts to sign a production contract with Apple for iPhone screens for a while. Despite the negative developments, it was stated that the company will produce a display panel for the iPhone family.
According to the news in TheElec, production disruption will occur in February and March due to the ongoing chip crisis. LX Semicon supplies integrated circuits for BOE’s display drivers. The company will shift its priority to LG Display orders due to BOE’s low production capacity.
Due to the chip crisis, it is estimated that BOE will reduce its production capacity to 2 to 3 million units in total. However, BOE allegedly received orders for 10 million OLED panels from Apple. It is stated to be the first OLED display contract between BOE and Apple.
Recently, information has revealed that BOE is preparing a facility for a future iPhone model. It is among the leaked information that the company focuses on quality in order to be able to work with Apple continuously.
