Along with the iPhone 14 models introduced in September 2022, Apple also launched the iOS 16 version. The company has started working on iOS 17 without wasting time. As with many brands, people in Apple’s beta developer program can test the latest features of the operating system.
iOS developer beta is getting paid
Those who want to sign up for Apple’s official developer program need to pay a $99 fee. On the other hand, some sites share developer profiles for free. Apple, which first tried to close such sites, now intends to take a different measure with the iOS 16.4 developer beta.
Apple added the ‘Beta Updates’ option to the software update section with the iOS 16.4 developer beta version offered for iPhone users. This new beta version option will now be the only option for users. With the new option, it seems that iPhone users will no longer be able to install beta versions from outside.
The company’s new policy will bring a big change with iOS 17. If this change happens, any user who is not participating in the developer program will no longer be able to download the beta version. Users who want to use the new features will either have to pay money or wait for the open beta tests.
Last year, Apple had already started working to shut down websites that shared developer beta profiles. Currently, BetaProfiles.com is ending its activities, while BetaProfiles.dev continues to serve. It is expected that all sites that make such posts will suffer the same fate in the near future.
