The Elder Scrolls 6 still has a long way to go
Phil Spencer confirmed in a statement that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still “more than five years away.” The Xbox boss is also careful to say what platforms Skyrim’s sequel is planned for: “It’s hard for us to be certain at this time.”
Spencer, who testified about the status of Elder Scrolls 6 at Microsoft’s US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hearing, talked about the uncertainty of The Elder Scrolls 6’s release and the uncertainty of which platform it will come to. Therefore, it is not out of the question to think that The Elder Scrolls 6 can completely skip the current generation consoles.
The Elder Scrolls 6’s distant and unknown release date is hardly a surprise. Bethesda Game Studios is currently gearing up to release Starfield on PC with Xbox Series X and S this September, and we know The Elder Scrolls 6 is the developer’s next big project. In 2020, Bethesda’s Pete Hines said that fans shouldn’t wait until “years from now” for details on The Elder Scrolls 6. As of 2021, the game was still in the design phase.
When will The Elder Scrolls 6 be released?
According to Phil Spencer’s comments, The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released in 2028 at the earliest. In the meantime, it is worth noting that the year Microsoft expects the release of new generation consoles is 2028.
