Things have started to change in the foldable smartphone market, which Samsung has dominated for a long time. Especially with the influence of Chinese brands, Samsung’s dominance is slowly showing signs of weakening.

The foldable phone market is vibrant

According to analysis, the foldable smartphone market sold around 7 million units in the third quarter of the year and experienced a growth of 215 percent compared to the previous quarter and 16 percent compared to the previous year. Last year, 6.1 million sales were made in the same period.

While Samsung is the leader in the market with 72 percent, Huawei brand has 9 percent and Honor brand has 8 percent market share. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 model has a 45 percent share in sales, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a 24 percent share in sales. However, future periods may be difficult.

Forecasts show that Samsung will experience a major decline at the end of the year. During this period, Samsung’s market share will drop to 40 percent. Huawei and Honor brands will approach 20 percent market share. It is estimated that Oppo will also have a 10 percent share. In other words, Chinese brands will dominate half of the market. This is against Samsung.
