iPhone SE 4 delayed once again
For those who missed it, Apple has been working on its own 5G modem for a long time in order to reduce its dependence on Qualcomm. We told you that the iPhone SE 4, which will be powered by this modem, has been postponed to 2025. Finally, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg shared another news that will upset users.
According to the latest statement, Apple’s 5G modem has been postponed to the end of 2025 or 2026. The reason for this is related to the company’s previous investments. To recall, in 2019, Apple purchased Intel’s 5G mobile modem unit for $1 billion. At this point, it is stated that the current problems are also experienced in Intel codes.
According to Bloomberg, “It was necessary to rewrite the code, but the addition of new features caused the programs to crash and break.” In addition, considering the performance and temperature problems experienced before, it is said that it will be possible to put the modem into active use only in 2026.
Apple is keen to produce its first in-house 5G modem in the next few years. Because sticking with Qualcomm is an expensive partnership, and that’s probably why the tech giant delayed the iPhone SE. However, Apple will continue to rely on Qualcomm until it achieves success. Therefore, we can say that the wait for the iPhone SE 4 will continue for a while.
