About a week ago, we reported that Bethesda could follow a similar policy in The Elder Scrolls 6, as Starfield was released only on Xbox and PC platforms. This assumption turned out to be correct. Let’s take a look at the details together.

The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be released on PlayStation. Also it won’t be released before 2026

A newly unearthed court document from Microsoft confirms that The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be coming to PlayStation when it launches in 2026 or later.

Microsoft filed this document as part of its court battle with the US Federal Trade Commission to acquire Activision Blizzard for USD 69 billion. During the same court process, Xbox boss Phil Spencer answered the FTC lawyer’s questions about Elder Scrolls 6 being exclusive to Xbox as follows:

“Given how soon the game will be out, I think we’re a little unclear on which platforms it will be released on. It’s hard for us to confirm this at the moment. “It’s so far out that it’s hard to even know what the platforms will be at this point.”

Despite Spencer’s tentative response back in June, Microsoft’s newly released court documents make clear that The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be coming to a PlayStation console.

In a chart intended to illustrate Microsoft’s approach to exclusivity following its acquisition of Bethesda in 2021, the company shows that four of the studio’s games were released or continued to be supported on PlayStation during that time.

The chart also shows that Bethesda’s next three games (the already released Redfall and Starfield, and the upcoming The Elder Scrolls 6) will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.

This also wraps up several loose statements in another court document filed as part of the FTC’s lawsuit last year, in which Microsoft lawyers stated that “three future games will be exclusive to Xbox and PC.”

At the time, it was assumed that Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 were also included in this list, which we now know to be true. Thanks to another court case earlier this year, we also know that Bethesda’s third Xbox and PC exclusive game will be Indiana Jones.

As for when The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released, Microsoft’s court documents reiterate that it will still be sometime in the distant future. We won’t see The Elder Scrolls 6 before 2026. What are you thinking? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
