Our neighbor to the east, Azerbaijan, announced recently that it had launched a military operation in Karabakh in order to re-establish the constitutional structure. After the said statement, another important statement came about TikTok and Azerbaijan announced that it banned the social media platform.
“State security” was cited as the reason for Azerbaijan’s ban on TikTok. Azerbaijan has now started to implement band throttling to prevent images related to the operation from spreading on TikTok.
Videos shared on social media created controversy in the Russia-Ukraine war
The publication of operation and preparation images on social media was on the agenda most especially during the Russia-Ukraine war. Maybe some of you remember; A Ukrainian citizen published videos of Ukrainian soldiers preparing for the operation on social media, in a sense revealing their location to Russian intelligence officers. Russia then launched an attack on the region and many Ukrainians lost their lives.
