Confidentiality and privacy are of great importance for many internet users today. One of the tools we use on the internet for this is avatars. Avatars, which mean “image” in essence, represent us in the digital world.
Although Zuckerberg tried to turn Facebook into Meta and gather people into the Metaverse, he was not very successful. It looks like Microsoft will soon bring us digital copies via Teams.
We can now go digital in Microsoft Teams
In the Microsoft Teams app store, people who are included in the Technical Access Program will now be able to create 3 avatars to use in meetings. The feature was first announced by John Roach, CTO of his firm’s digital consulting services, in a blog post in November 2021.
These avatars will provide more freedom of expression, especially in the hybrid working model. While preparing their avatars, users will be able to add their physical features and other aspects that reflect themselves to their digital variations. There are also many accessories that we can download and use from the store.
With this statement from Microsoft, “Is it a video conferencing application or a metaverse-like application?” rekindled the debate. According to many names in the industry, the future of the business world lies in more digitalized hybrid models.
By using our digital copies, it will also be possible to interact with digital work environments. For example, using our avatar, we will be able to write notes on the important points we have explained on a whiteboard. Perhaps in the future, Microsoft can achieve the goals of Metaverse with its own Horizon Workrooms program.
