Ubisoft introduced its new games at the Forward event held last week. These games included Star Wars: Outlaws, which would be the first open-world Star Wars game, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, based on the Avatar film series. It was stated that the Avatar game will be released on December 7, and Star Wars will be released in 2024.
Today, there has been a development that may upset those who are waiting for these two games. It has been seen that both productions may not come to two of the most popular game stores in the world.
Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora may not be coming to Epic Games and Steam
According to the information available through Ubisoft’s own distribution service, Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games and CD Projekt’s distribution platform GOG are not among the platforms where the two games will be released.
In the screenshot shared by PCGamesN, it can be seen that the listing includes Ubisoft Connect, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S. In addition to these, the Avatar game also includes Amazon’s cloud service Amazon Luna. When we search for both games on Steam and Epic Games, we cannot reach a result. This strengthens the possibility.
We know that Ubisoft has moved away from Steam in the past. The company started not to publish its games here due to the cut commissions. However, recently Assassin’s Creed games, productions such as Far Cry 6 have started to return to the platform. However, it should be noted that the new Assassin’s Creed game Mirage is not on Steam. On the other hand, the game can be accessed from Epic Games. All of which shows that the company can be picky about where it releases its big games.
Looking at this listing, it would be unfair to conclude that Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will never come to Steam and Epic. Just that both games may not be released on these platforms in the first place; but we can guess that it will come in the future.
A statement on the subject came from Ubisoft
