Popular messaging application WhatsApp announced several new features aimed at improving the security of the application in April. The company also announced that it plans to make these additional security features available in the coming months. It was recently revealed that one of these security features was available in beta version.

Here is WhatsApp’s new feature: Automatic security code verification

WhatsApp introduced a renewed encryption verification screen with the WhatsApp beta 2.23.19.15 update for Android. Thanks to these improvements, the application will automatically try to verify whether messages are end-to-end encrypted or not without the need for any user intervention.

As can be seen from the screenshot above, the overall security and privacy of your conversations is increased by checking whether you are using a secure connection. With this process called Key Transparency, WhatsApp will continue to offer users the manual verification feature if automatic verification fails or is unavailable.

Introducing the automatic captcha feature along with the key transparency process makes end-to-end encryption verification more accessible and faster. Finally, the feature, which is currently in the testing phase, is expected to be available for general use soon.
