Gathering automobile distributors operating in Turkey under a single roof, ODD continues to keep the pulse of the sector. The association, which frequently conducts market research and shares the results with the public, has published the automobile and light commercial vehicle sales reports for the period of January-September 2021.
According to the published report, automobile sales in our country increased by 13.1 percent in the 9-month period compared to the previous period. The total amount of vehicles sold was recorded as 558.145 units. However, all is not well. The sector, which entered a difficult period in September, experienced a decrease of 40 percent.
Auto sales hit the bottom in September!
In September 2021, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market decreased by 36.9 percent compared to September 2020 and reached 57 thousand 141 units. Automobile sales, on the other hand, decreased by 39.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year to 43,308 units, while the light commercial vehicle market decreased by 28.9 percent to 13,733 units.
A, B and C class vehicles with low tax rates accounted for 86% of sales. C-type cars received a share of 54.9 percent with 238 thousand 644 units, and B segment vehicles received a share of 30.5 percent with 132 thousand 517 units. The reason for the said decrease is the SCT Base reduction, which was introduced to stimulate the market.
The discount, which confused customers who were considering buying a vehicle, caused many people to hope that prices would decrease and postpone their purchases. Unfortunately, despite this, the discounts that the consumer expected did not come true.
