Australian Version of The Office Coming – Webtekno

The Office, directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, which was first broadcast in the UK in 2001, is one of the most popular comedies in the world. So much so that the production was remade many times in different ways. The most popular of these was the American version starring Steve Carell, which was watched by millions and won many awards during its 2005-2013 broadcast.

Now, it has been announced that the legendary series will be shot in a different country once again. According to Deadline, The Office version this time will be shot in Australia and will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.

The new The Office will feature a woman for the first time

Felicity Ward

The Australian version of The Office will appear with an important change. In the new series, Ricky Gervais popularized David Brent (Michael Scott played by Steve Carell in the US version), a woman named Hannah Howard. Australian comedian and actress Felicity Ward will play the character that will break new ground. Apart from Ward, the production will include names such as Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh.

Ward, who will play Howard, will show us from his perspective as the manager of the team at a company called Flinley Craddick. According to Deadline, the character will go into survival mode after hearing the news that everyone will be working from home and will start making promises he can’t keep to keep his team together.

It should be noted that the new Australian-signed series will be the 13th version of The Office that has been shot so far. TV series had been released in many different places, from Canada to France, from the Middle East to Chile. Ricky Gervais, one of the creators of the original series, also expressed his excitement for the new project, looking forward to seeing a modernized version of David Brent.

The Office Australia, which will come with 8 episodes, will be broadcast on Prime Video in 2024 all over the world except the USA. Filming will begin in June.
