READING NOW Attention those who got banned on Twitch: You will be banned completely now!

There are tons of live streaming platforms on the market right now, but of course, the most well-known, reliable and popular one is Twitch, which entered our lives under the name Justin.Tv. Until now, on Twitch, you could be banned if you violated a streamer’s rules, but only from their chat. You could continue watching the broadcast. This situation is changing.

You will no longer be able to watch the broadcast when you are banned on Twitch!

Twitch is preparing to roll out a new feature that will make broadcasts unwatchable when a streamer bans a user. Currently, only a handful of publishers are able to use the feature for testing purposes, but it will be available to everyone in September.

The news emerged in a post shared by Twitch publisher Lowco on his Twitter (X) account. In Lowco’s post, “BIG TWITCH UPDATE: If you block or ban someone, they will no longer be able to watch your stream!” and there is a ban screen with the option ‘Prevent banned users from watching the stream’ at the bottom.

In the same thread, there is also more information about the feature. Publishers will have the option to turn this feature on or off. If it is on, it will work immediately. In other words, if you ban someone in the middle of a broadcast, they will be removed from the broadcast immediately and someone you have previously blocked will not be able to enter the broadcast.

However, banned users are not completely prevented from entering the channel. They will still be able to enter the channels they were banned and watch live broadcast replays or clips. They will simply have been removed from the living part.

Let’s also mention that this does not ban a user’s IP, if you have been banned, it is possible to go live with another account. Trevor Fisher, Twitch’s Senior product manager, says in a Twitch patch notes video released on August 16, 2023:

“We did a few rounds of feedback with people, and overall we heard from many streamers that even if it’s just simply blocking people from watching from the account they’ve been banned from, it’s still something they want.”

As a result, if you want to continue to be on a broadcaster’s broadcast, now you need to be more careful in the chat section. Because broadcasters now have the option to prevent you from watching broadcasts. What are you thinking? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
