Top 5 altcoins according to daily GitHub development event
GitHub allows developers to store, manage, etc. changes in their code. It is a cloud-based platform that helps transactions. As of December 8, 2022, Cardano (ADA) leads the GitHub development event with a total of 738 issues, according to data from ProofofGitHub. Second in development activity is Cosmos (ATOM) with 664. Polkadot (DOT), Optimism (OP), and Internet Computer (ICP) were also in the top 5 on GitHub with 556, 502 and 378 daily developments.
Notably, Ethereum ranked seventh among the projects with the most development activity. The leading altcoin is sliding down the rankings it once was a leader. This is because of the giant strides Cardano has taken in development since last year.
Cardano remains a leader in development
According to the analysis conducted by Santiment, Cardano recorded the highest development activity in November. Specifically, the Cardano team’s development activity in November was 18% higher at 572.67 compared to Polkadot’s 486.13 activity. It seems that Cardano continues its development activities in December from where it left off in November. Cardano was the lead developer every day in December, except for December 4 at 0chain’s peak. It is also recording a steady rise in smart contracts. It increases the total number of smart contracts based on the Plutus platform by over 300%, counting 4,000 scripts in 2022.

Cardano developers are busy with these new projects
As Kriptokoin.com, we mentioned that Cardano is building a new social media platform. Developed by Emurgo, one of Cardano’s founding companies, the new platform will help build media products around the ADA ecosystem. Meanwhile, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson also announced on Midnight, Cardano’s new privacy-focused blockchain, that “secret smart contracts” are coming soon.
The Cardano founder spoke about Midnight in an interview with YouTuber Cory Costa that aired on December 7. He shared technical details about how the project resolved privacy issues. Now one of Cardano’s new moves is to create a privacy framework around Midnight. Hoskinson says Midnight is “the hardest product we’ve worked on.” Besides these two projects, Pos Blockchain is also interested in the construction of a new stablecoin. The djed stablecoin is expected to start its testnet phase in January 2023.
