Atari, the legendary company of the game world, is known for renewing its old consoles and putting them on sale in recent years. The last renewed device was the Atari 2600, which debuted in 1977. The 46-year-old game console will be on the shelves again as the Atari 2600 Plus.

Atari 2600 Plus goes on sale with legendary games and controller

Atari unveiled the Atari 2600 Plus, the modern-day version of the Atari 2600 console, which was first released in 1977. The new Atari 2600+ will be released worldwide on November 17 and will hit the shelves starting at $130.

The Atari 2600 is a console that witnessed the start of home gaming in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The redeveloped version, on the other hand, will retain the original design and remain true to the Atari 2600’s features.

The new console will be able to play Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 games. For this, there will be a floppy slot, as in the original console. This floppy disk will contain legendary games such as Adventure, Combat, Missile Command and Haunted House.

In terms of technical features, one should not expect too much from the Atari 2600 Plus. The console, which will be powered by the Rockchip 3128 processor, will include 256MB of RAM. But most importantly, it will have HDMI for seamless compatibility with the television or monitor. It will also offer widescreen support for enhanced visuals.

It should be noted that the Atari 2600+ retains the iconic four-way controller and classic ports. However, Atari will also offer extra controllers for games like Pong and Breakout. Let’s say that the new console will be sold for $ 130.
