What does “D” mean?
ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate do not offer any difference other than processor, gpu, color and weight compared to Pro models. In other words, from the outside, we have two hardware-enhanced devices that are a little hard to distinguish from the ROG Phone 6 Pros. If you’re wondering what the D stands for on the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate, it stands for Dimensity. As you know, ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro had Snapdragon 8 Plus 1 processor. The 6D and 6D Ultimate are powered by MediaTek’s latest and powerful processor, Dimensity 9000 Plus.
Design: Everything in its place
ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate feature a 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 165Hz. Phones protected with IPX4 certification and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus retain their headphone jack and dual front speakers, and even have the same camera setup. The phones, which welcome us with a matte space gray color, are slightly heavier (8 gr) compared to previous models. The 6D Ultimate model carries the 6 Pro’s ROG Vision display on the back.
Camera: All features preserved
ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate camera features include; camera mode editing, automatic exposure bracketing (professional mode setting that allows the camera to shoot at different shutter speeds and aperture values), hypersteady video, separate auto exposure and autofocus, slow motion, 8K video recording, time-lapse settings, dynamic night mode.
Performance: More powerful battery and memory
Asus’ new game monsters ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate come with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage options. We would have expected 18GB of RAM, but Asus says the LPDDR5X supports a maximum of 16GB. The new models that come with the ARM Mali-G710 GPU have dual 3000 mAh batteries. As with the Pro models, there is a 6000 mAh battery. Asus offers the option to limit the charge to 80% or 90% to extend battery life.
Game: New cooling system and accessories
Asus focuses on providing the best gaming experience with its ROG Phone 6 series. It comes with Asus’ GameCool 6 CPU cooling solution and AeroActive Cooler accessories, along with the AirTrigger 6 control system, which allows touching 14 different points of the screen to be adjusted. The 6D Ultimate has a heat dissipation system (AeroActive) that acts together with the built-in GameCool 6 fan that further cools the phone. Numerous accessories are available for both models. Among the accessories are the modular gamepad ROG Kunai 3, the dock that allows you to connect the phone to the HDMI display, the clip that allows you to use the phone with various controllers, the AeroActive Cooler (out of the box of Ultimate).
